Welcome to Tone Tags

Hello, I am Entity (Raccoons or Feral work as well). This is just a quick carrd explaining tone tags/their importance with a list of common tags.

What are tone tags, and why are they important?

Tone tags are a tool for accessibility for autistic and other neurodivergent people to help them determine the tone of text messages. They were made because it is especially difficult for autistic and other neurodivergent people to read tones in messages."Why not just use emojis?" you might ask.
Well over time emojis have developed second and third meanings so it is difficult to look at a message without knowing what the emoji might mean. Also devices like computers and laptops don't usually have emoji keyboards.
Therefore tone tags were made so that it was easier to read the tones of messages without confusion or frustration.

The buttons below will take you to a page that explains why it is harmful and ableist to misuse tone tags on purpose and a list of common tone tags and what they mean

Why You Shouldn't Misuse Tone Tags

As I said before it is a tool for accessibility. If you don't understand how jokingly using what you may think are just letters in the incorrect way is ableist, think of it this way.A lot of dyslexic people use screen readers to read text to them because of their disability. Now imagine someone purposely puts weird symbols and fonts into a message (knowing the person uses a screen reader and knowing it will break and possibly stop working because of it) just so that they can get a laugh out of the person's confusion or so that they can hear how the screen reader breaks "because it sounds funny."That person is intentionally making a message inaccessible for that person for their own entertainment. And that is ableist. Now take that example but make the person severely autistic and make the screen reader tone tags. That person is now possibly stressed or extremely confused by your message because you though it was funny. Or because you thought their accessibility tool was "stupid." That is ableism.

I hope that puts it in an explanation and perspective that you understand
